ALSTON STREET

Thornbury

The facade of these units were highly inspired by the Dutch artistic movement De Stijl. It has simplified visual compositions to vertical and horizontal and strictly uses primary colours with a hint of white, black and grey. The facade enabled these two units to standout within the neighbourhood. With the exterior being based on De Stijl, the aim was to have the interior follow the same simplicity.

We really wanted to create the impression that once you shut the door, you could escape the everyday and relax — and using dark, calming colours really achieves that.
The size of tile can make a difference. These long, slender, rectangular tiles laid in a brick pattern visually elongate the room.
